Got Snow?

If you don’t have enough snow I’d be more than happy to send you some of mine. Yesterday and last night we got another 20+ inches dumped on us. This time the snow is heavy and I’m pretty much out of places to put it and the back to lift it. The dogs are going stir crazy, the horses are pestering each other and my left hand is entirely numb from shoveling.

It could have been worse … we could have lost power too. I just hope the roof doesn’t ice up again and start leaking inside … we’ve certainly got all the right conditions for that to happen again!

Beautiful picture, Cheryl, even given the message it sends! We are dealing with water running down the walls and even scarier, out through the light fixture and we just had a new roof 5 years ago. Sheez Louize. All that said, we’re off to points North, including the ice festival in Quebec City…so enjoy the snow, we’re going where there’s less of it. Want us to bring a couple of your dogs and horses along?

    • Oh man … I had water dripping right off my foyer light fixture last week. When it dried out I was afraid to see if it still worked … and it does. Unfortunately, the water made the fixture crack. It was one of those Marlborough Barn reproduction fixtures that cost WAY more than they look like they ought to cost. The insurance adjuster said he would be making an allowance for a replacement, but what tweaks me is that I REALLY liked my fixture and I really doubt I can find another like it. As for our water damage elsewhere, well, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn’t get any worse than it already is. We’ll see, but it’s only Jan.

Hope you have lots of fun up north and I’ll catch you on the flip side!

Yikes…tooo much snow, but darn it if it doesn’t make a pretty picture!!
I guess if you have it you might as well find a way to make do…even if the only way you can appreciate it is the loveliness in photos. I’m sure you will like this picture MUCH better after you’ve had some winters where it’s nothing but mud???!!!!
Ugh! Weather, why does it become such a bother as we age? As kids, this picture would mean no school and play outside all freaking day – in for hot cocoa and cookies… then more outside time! Red cheeks, wet mittens, the works! I wanna be a kid (sometimes!)

    • Yup, it’s beautiful, but a pain in the neck. I do wish I could see it through the eyes of a child, but kids don’t have to worry about leaking or collapsing roofs or the logistics of making the area navigable and safe for livestock. You’re right … I wanna be a kid (again) sometimes!

Glad you liked it and that it helped you revisit some of those fun childhood winter memories! Wait .. didn’t our mother bundle us up, shove our protesting butts out the door and lock us outside? I distinctly recall pounding on the door with sodden mittens, crying that we wanted to come in only to hear her holler through the door that we needed to “go play” for awhile longer. Ha! So much for memories of hot chocolate and cookies! :)
